Vocation Director Sister Maria Victoria Cutaia, OSB utilized her skills in leadership and facilitation at a leadership conference in January.

Hosted by the Leadership Collaborative, the event welcomed almost 150 religious sisters to Chicago with more than 100 joining online.

“The purpose was to give religious sisters a chance to get together and to talk about life,” Sister Maria Victoria said.

She served on the conference’s planning committee, which spent months organizing via Zoom.

“My work centered on committees for liturgy, such as planning the opening and closing prayers and other little prayers thought out the conference, and the welcome committee,” she said. “I served on a panel about leadership and shared what that means to me.”

Sister Maria Victoria, who is also fluent in Spanish, assisted with bilingual opportunities. In addition, she helped with with facilitating an Open Space Session during which she helped participants generate topics of interest for discussion to use in small breakout groups then brought them back to a large group discussion.

“It was a really good experience overall,” Sister Maria Victoria said. “I enjoy meeting and collaborating with other religious women. It also helped me confirm that God is calling me into facilitation.”
