Dayton, Wyo. – Sister Gladys Noreen, OSB has been appointed superior of the San Benito Monastery of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration.

Completing her installation during Lauds the morning of Friday July 27, in Dayton, Wyo., was Prioress General Sister Pat Nyquist, OSB who arrived earlier in the week to make the four-year appointment.

Sister Gladys succeeds Sister Josetta Grant, OSB who had served in the position since 2008. Sister Gladys was appointed San Benito superior in 2006, a job she held for two years before being chosen as administrator of the Benedictine Sisters' healthcare facility in Clyde, Mo.

In 2009, she was asked to serve the Correspondence Department and then returned to Wyoming to assist with San Benito, the smallest of the Congregation's communities that serves as a retreat center and home to Monastery Creations. She has since enjoyed her time teaching confirmation classes to Catholic youth.

Sister Gladys was born in Minneapolis and made her final monastic profession with the Benedictine Sisters in 1978.  She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Valparaiso University, a master’s degree in religious studies from Washington University in St. Louis and a doctor of ministry degree in ecumenism from the Graduate Theological Foundation.
