Tucson hosts Oblate Renewal Day - (27-02-2014)

< back

In January, the Tucson, Ariz., Benedictine Sisters hosted their Oblate Renewal Day, celebrating those making their oblation at the Tucson Monastery.

During the monastery’s Day Hour, oblates renewed their oblation, three new candidates were enrolled to begin their year of preparation for oblation and six candidates made their oblation.

New Tucson Oblates are Kellyanne Hale, Kitty Tobin, Mayola McCrary and Barbara Isaacson from Tucson, together with Lisa Hughes and Christine DuBois from Phoenix. New candidates are Beverly Gonda and Father Pete Forbes from Tucson, and Michele Headrick from Phoenix.

In addition, Michael Schroeder, a member of the Phoenix East Valley oblate chapter who was the community’s representative to the Third World Congress of Oblates in Rome in October, hosted a presentation where he expressed his joy in meeting oblates from around the world and shared photos and slides about the experience.

Oblates are Christian adults who are formally affiliated with the Benedictine monastic family in order to seek God more intentionally. They are men and women of various faiths, married or single, who find support and ongoing growth in holiness through spiritual association with a vowed monastic community. The Benedictine Sisters host several oblate chapters around the country. For more information about oblates, please visit BenedictineOblates.com.
