(CLYDE, Mo.) - As part of their commitment to deepening their monastic and Eucharistic lives, the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde spent a recent Saturday with Scripture scholar Sister Irene Nowell, OSB.

Members of the Benedictine Sisters took part in a special Renewal Saturday on Nov. 29 in their Adoration Chapel during two conferences led by Sister Irene that offered “Illuminating the Word: The Advent Readings,” a meditative analysis of the four Sunday readings during the Advent season. Special attention was given to readings from the prophet Isaiah and to the Gospel of Matthew.

“Sister Irene has a knack for making the Scriptures come alive,” Sister Ruth Elaine Starman, OSB said. “Her insights on the readings will enrich the Advent season for me.”

Sister Irene is the author of several books about the Scriptures and is a member of the faculty at Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota.
