The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Tucson, Arizona, were thrilled to welcome two new members to its oblate program.

Benedictine oblates are formally affiliated with one of the BSPA's monasteries. They are men and women of many faiths, married or single, who strive to live according to the Rule of St. Benedict as it applies to the ordinary circumstances of their lives.

Lang-Ha Pham, an anesthesiologist from Albuquerque, New Mexico, made her oblation on Dec. 13, 2016. In addition to her medical duties, Lang-Ha teaches religion in her parish and is taking online classes through Notre Dame to become a certified religion teacher.

John Hill, from Tucson, made his oblation on Jan. 15, 2017. John, who retired from a corporate career, works part time in a parish and as a Eucharist minister at one of the area hospitals. John made his oblation on the Tucson monastery’s Renewal Day for oblates.

The day also included a presentation on “The Wisdom of Thomas Merton” and how that wisdom is needed today in our culture.
