In the nave of the chapel are statues of Benedictine women saints. Each statue is represented by a distinctive symbol characterizing the life of that particular saint. St. Mechtilde was a Benedictine born in Saxony. Admired for her beautiful voice, she directed the choir at her monastery at Helfta. She is known for her book of revelations, written by St. Gertrude, which was published and became popular throughout Europe.
