“Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name” was a fitting song verse to open the Golden Jubilee celebration of Benedictine Sister of Perpetual Adoration Pat Nyquist, OSB on Sept. 14.

With several guests and her fellow Sisters in attendance in the Adoration Chapel, the celebratory Mass included the Ceremony of Recommitment, a moment when Prioress General Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB invited Sister Pat to renew her vows of stability, conversatio and obedience. The celebration continued in the refectory over a meal and fellowship.

“This time of jubilee has been a powerful reminder that God lovingly walks with us all our days, enriching our lives with every grace needed each and every moment,” Sister Pat said.

Sister Pat is a native of Moorhead, Minnesota, and joined in 1974. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. Among her jobs within the Congregation has been treasurer, co-manager of the altar bread department, formation director, Clyde prioress and prioress general. She is currently assistant prioress general of the Benedictine Sisters.

Sister Pat’s unwavering commitment to Christ and to her community has been a cornerstone of her life for the past 50 years. Her journey in monastic life has been marked by deep faith, service and leadership. Whether managing the altar bread department or guiding the community as prioress, her dedication has touched the lives of her fellow Sisters and those who have had the privilege of knowing her.

Throughout her years of service, she has balanced the contemplative demands of monastic life with the practical needs of the community, always ensuring that her work was a reflection of the Benedictine values she holds dear. Sister Pat’s Golden Jubilee is not only a celebration of her past contributions but also a testament to the ongoing impact of her ministry.

Her Golden Jubilee stands as a beacon of faithfulness and perseverance, inspiring those around her to live a life rooted in service, humility and devotion.
