The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Missouri, are looking for a nursing supervisor of their healthcare facility, Our Lady of Rickenbach (which serves their elderly Sisters).
Position: NURSING SUPERVISOR
Responsible to: Sister Administrator
Job Summary:
The nursing supervisor monitors all nursing, dietary and housekeeping functions at Our Lady of Rickenbach Healthcare Center to ensure that a high quality of care is provided to the Sister residents. Work hours for this position are 40 a week, alternating weekends and will work holidays.
Essential Functions:
- oversee the physical exam and completion of the medical history on each new admission to the facility
- routinely make rounds in the facility to visit the Sisters to assess their physical, mental and emotional needs
- monitor physicians’ visits to ensure that staff is assigned
- be available to visiting physicians to respond to any concerns or requests that may arise
- meet with the Sister administrator to coordinate appointments and medical trips for the Sister residents; make transportation arrangements accordingly
- accompany or assign a staff member to accompany the Sisters to their appointments
- interview, hire, evaluate and terminate staff members in consultation with the Sister administrator and the HR office
- oversee scheduling of nursing staff to insure adequate coverage for each shift
- verify staff work hours with their time cards for processing bi-weekly payroll
- administer verbal or written interim warnings to staff personnel after conferring with the Sister Administrator
- provide for in-service training to the staff including but not limited to: fire safety, blood-borne pathogens, infection control, bowel and bladder training, resident rights, employee rights, accident prevention, range of motion, death and dying, confidentiality, needs of special care residents, transferring and ambulation
- work as Charge Nurse 3 to 4 times a week
- perform all duties of nursing assistant as needed
- order medical supplies as needed
- meet monthly with the prioress general, the Clyde prioress and the Sister administrator
- perform all other duties required by the Sister administrator
Requirements:
- license to practice nursing in the State of Missouri
- certified to administer an IV
- pass a drug screening test
- minimum of five years of nursing experience
- skills to supervise a staff of ten or more
- multi-tasking skills
- patient assessment skills
- good communications skills: oral and written
- compassion toward the sick and elderly
- dependability
- flexibility
- capable of functioning coherently during an emergency or crisis
- lift without restrictions
- agile enough to bend, stoop, twist
