Job Summary:
Position is for 6 a.m. 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Starting wage is $18.75/hour. Position performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Performs functions that may include electrical, heating/air conditioning, carpentry, painting, pluming and upkeep of grounds and property surrounding the Clyde monastery. This includes - but is not limited to - mowing, trimming, spraying, pruning, planting and maintaining current knowledge of plant care. Please see below for a full job description.

Essential Functions:
• Responsible for plumbing and electrical repairs;
• Interior/exterior painting (tolerate exposure to various paints and chemicals);
• General household jobs and repairs;
• Woodworking projects;
• Routine maintenance (grease, oil, clean/check belts, etc.) of motors and refrigeration equipment;
• Assist other personnel in handling heavy objects, equipment or materials. This will include - but is not limited to - loading or unloading trucks, running pipe, hauling debris and picking up supplies and materials as needed;
• Welding;
• Snow removal;
• Tuck pointing;
• Operate tractors, small dump trucks, backhoe, other large and small machinery;
• Works with/accompanies outside contractors and other service people as work is completed on the monastery premises;
• Continuing education will occasionally be offered in the form of workshops, seminars or videos on related work topics. Such attendance will be considered work time;
• Car maintenance, including fueling, oil changes, check tires, prepare for trips;
• Other work in Maintenance Department as assigned;
• Learn new skills for proper care of property and equipment;
• Lawn care such as planting, mowing, trimming, fertilizing and aerating;
• Care of trees and bushes such as planting, watering, trimming, removal and pest problems;
• Design, plant and maintain landscapes;
• Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) upkeep;
• Spray weeds;
• Haul debris;
• Operate, care for and maintain all farm and grounds equipment such as - but not limited to - tractors, trucks, commercial lawn mowers and backhoes;
• Operate, care for and maintain all small farm and grounds tools such as - but not limited to - pruners, trimmers and paint brushes;
• Paint/seal outdoor items such as benches, picnic tables, signs, etc.;
• Seasonal work such as snow and ice removal, leaf vacuuming, etc;
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas; and
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
• High school education;
• Previous experience in minor building maintenance and/or equipment maintenance preferred;
• Class E Missouri Driver’s License;
• Work as a team in conjunction with other maintenance workers;
• Ability to climb ladders and to stoop, crouch, kneel and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to adapt to various temperatures and weather conditions. Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds without restrictions and
• Ability to work in confined spaces, crawl spaces and tunnels. |
