The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph hosted a Celebration of Consecrated Life to honor religious sisters who celebrated milestone jubilees of monastic profession in 2023 and 2024.
The event took place on Sept. 8 at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Among those honored were Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Sister Mary Joy Heinlein, OSB (70 years); Sister Dawn Vercellino, OSB (70 years); Sister Joy Ann Wege, OSB (65 years); Sister Ramona Varela, OSB (60 years); Sister Sarah Schwartzberg, OSB (50 years); Sister Pat Nyquist, OSB (50 years); and Sister Lucia Anne Le, OSB (25 years).
Bishop James V. Johnston Jr., DD, JCL noted during the ceremony’s Renewal of Religious Commitment, “In the name of Jesus Christ and the Church, I am happy to witness the renewal of your vows. May God who has begun this good work in you bring it to completion.” |
