The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration welcomed a renowned expert in Benedictine history to help them reflect on their congregation’s place within the broader tradition.
Abbot Joel Rippinger, OSB, of Marmion Abbey in Aurora, Illinois, spent two days with the Benedictine Sisters in November at their monastery in Clyde, Missouri, leading discussions on their origins and the lessons drawn from their pioneering predecessors.
“This tied in nicely with the year-long celebration of our 150th jubilee,” Prioress General Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB, said. “We held our meetings at Our Lady of Rickenbach so our older Sisters could take part too.”
During the conference, participants explored the congregation’s development, its relationships with other monasteries and ways to carry forward the insights gained from their history into the future. Abbot Joel’s thoughtful facilitation enriched the experience for all who attended.
“We were grateful he took the time to be with us,” Sister Dawn Annette said.
The gathering not only honored the congregation’s past but also deepened the Sisters’ commitment to living out their monastic charism in a way that remains vibrant and relevant. Reflecting on their history has inspired them to embrace the future with renewed purpose and gratitude for their enduring Benedictine legacy. |
