Arizona Oblates with the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration gathered at St. Philip’s in the Hills in Tucson for a day of retreat and recollection.
This year has been a time of grace, renewal and joyful reunion for oblates and friends of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. Earlier in the year, Arizona Oblates gathered at St. Philip’s in the Hills in Tucson for a day of retreat and recollection. Participants came from Tucson, Phoenix and Casa Grande, joined by Sister Kathleen Clare Lahl, OSB, and Sister Hope Rodenborn, OSB, from the monastery in Clyde, Missouri.
The day was rich in prayer, the recitation of the Divine Office, the Renewal of Oblation, spiritual input, discussion and a light picnic lunch. Gratitude flowed from all in attendance for the opportunity to be together in this spirit-filled gathering. Special thanks were offered to the Tucson deans for planning and hosting such a meaningful day.
The Benedictine spirit was alive again in August, this time in Wyoming. Oblates of the Sheridan deanery welcomed Sister Kathleen Clare and Sister Hope for a weekend of retreat, reflection and reunion. The retreat, held at the parish center of Holy Name Church, included presentations by the Sisters, times of prayer and sharing, a Renewal of Oblation and Vespers to close the day.

Oblates from the Sheridan, Wyoming, area who participated in the retreat were (front row, left to right) Cathy Fortier, Mona Mitzel, Carol Krumm, Riki Shiel, Teresa Van Buren and (back row, left to right) Mary Slipp, Cel Hope, Ariel Downing and Meg Maze.
Sunday was dedicated to rekindling friendships and cherishing memories of the Benedictine Sisters who once lived at the Dayton monastery. Warm receptions were hosted by St. Edmund’s Parish in Ranchester and Holy Name Parish in Sheridan, where the Sisters were embraced with heartfelt affection. For Sister Hope, who had lived for many years in Dayton, the outpouring of love was especially moving.

Sister Hope Rodenborn, OSB (center) received a warm welcome from friends during a reception held at St. Edmund’s in Ranchester, Wyoming, in August.
Both gatherings highlighted the enduring bonds between the Benedictine Sisters and their oblates, friends and communities. From Arizona to Wyoming, hearts were lifted in prayer, friendships were renewed and deep gratitude was expressed for the lasting presence and witness of Benedictine spirituality.
