This summer, Benedictine Sister of Perpetual Adoration Nancy Rose Gucwa, OSB, participated in two meaningful gatherings that reflect her commitment to both religious life and service to others.
In July, she attended the Summer Institute hosted by the National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC) at the Marillac Center in Leavenworth, Kansas. The annual event offers workshops designed for vocation ministers, formation teams, communicators, religious leadership and others entrusted with guiding discerners and candidates.
Drawing on the NRVC curriculum, the sessions explore the complex theological, spiritual, psycho-sexual, ethical and diversity issues present in contemporary vocation ministry. Sister Nancy Rose found it a valuable opportunity to deepen her knowledge and strengthen her ministry as vocation director.
Earlier in June, she attended the 2025 Veterans Retreat in St. Louis, a spiritual retreat created especially for men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The retreat provided a space for reflection, healing and connection through faith. For Sister Nancy Rose, the retreat carried special meaning. She was a member of the first class at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to admit women and later served both on active duty and in the reserves before joining the Benedictine Sisters. Her participation in these events highlights her deep dedication to fostering vocations while also honoring her lifelong connection to those who serve.
