Encircling the apse at the rear of the altar is a wide ornamental band that bears the Latin inscription, ‘Qui manducat meam Carnem et bibit meum Sanguinem in me manet et ego in eo.’ This translates to, ‘Whoever eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood abides in Me and I in him.’ Angels with scrolls appear beneath the ornamental band. The scrolls bear the Latin inscription, ‘Laudamus te, benedicimus te, adoramus te, glorificamus te.’ This translates to, ‘We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you.’
