(Dayton, Wyo.) - Several leaders representing the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration gathered for the fall Extended Council meeting in October at San Benito Monastery in Dayton, Wyoming.

Prioress General Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB presented the DVD of the address by Sister Nancy Schreck, OSF to the Leadership Conference of Women Religious earlier this year.

“She spoke about how sometimes God turns out the lights because we are never in so much danger as falling as when we think we know the way,” Sister Dawn Annette said. “It is about journeying through the transition, the spaces in between. That is the state of our congregation right now - in transition.”

Those in attendance later discussed how to celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life, the renewal of Benedictine Eucharistic life and new ideas about their monastic habit. General Councilor Sister Valerie Stark, OSB reported that the congregation’s financial records passed an independent annual review.

Also serving as representatives to the meeting were Clyde Prioress Sister Rita Clair Dohn, OSB, San Benito Superior Sister Gladys Ruth Noreen, OSB, Treasurer General Sister Pat Nyquist, OSB, General Councilor Sister Joan Ridley, OSB, General Councilor Sister Ruth Elaine Starman, OSB and Tucson Prioress Sister Ramona Varela, OSB.

During the week, the Sisters also took time for final visits to Tongue River Canyon and Shell Creek Falls in the Big Horn Mountains.

“We have been blessed by the wildlife, the mountains, the meadows, the flowing streams and towering trees, the bright stars and the glory of God in every growing thing,” Sister Dawn Annette said.
