Her plea was answered by Prioress General Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB who invited her to join the community in chapel.
The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration welcomed Pia Jepsen to their postulancy during Day Hour on July 1 in the Adoration Chapel of their Clyde, Missouri, monastery.
As per custom, Pia knocked on the Adoration Chapel doors, symbolizing her desire to enter the contemplative monastic community. Her plea was answered by Prioress General Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB who invited her to join the community in chapel.
Soon she was formally invited to join the postulancy and presented with the Divine Office books by Formation Director Sister Pat Nyquist, OSB. After she received the blessing from Sister Dawn Annette and Sister Pat, the community retired to the refrectory to share in a celebratory meal.
Postulant Pia, who is from Copenhagen, Denmark, will spend the next year of formation adjusting to monastic life, taking classes and learning the works of the Benedictine Sisters. |
