Several Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration of the Clyde, Missouri, community appeared on St. Joseph/KQ2’s newscast in late October to share how they celebrated the World Series.

With Kansas City Royals’ fever sweeping the nation, the Sisters used social media to combine baseball and biblical passages on faith, hope and strength, all while having a little fun.

“We talk a lot about the serious things in our world, the floods, wars, all that stuff,” Sister Lynn Marie D’Souza, OSB told the reporter. “So it’s nice to do something that’s just fun and light-hearted that brings people together for a joyful reason.”

Appearing in the newscast along with Sister Lynn Marie were Sister Cheryl Morehead, OSB, Sister Sarah Schwartzberg, OSB, Sister Ruth Elaine Starman, OSB and Sister Cathleen Marie Timberlake, OSB. During the interview, the other Sisters took an opportunity to joke with Mets’ fan and New York-native Sister Sarah, who remained steadfast in her devotion to her hometown team.
