Benedictine Sisters Patricia Vereb and Hope Rodenborn were thrilled to be invited as guests and vendors to the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Exemplification Jan. 8-9 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Tucson, Arizona.
Thanks to an invitation by Sir Knight Ted Fleck, the Benedictine Sisters sold their monastic products during the event. The Sisters were joined by volunteer Erna Acosta who helped oversee the sales booths. Ted’s wife, Joyce, extended an invitation to the Sisters to attend the Ladies Luncheon where Sister Hope gave the invocation and explained a bit about contemplative religious life to the audience.
“This was also a wonderful opportunity for us to visit with the Knights and their families as well as meet new people and make new contacts,” Sister Patricia said. “We have been invited for the past several years to sell our products at the Fourth Degree Exemplification. It is one of the many ways they volunteer to support us.”
According to the KOC website, the Fourth Degree is the most “visible arm of the Knights of Columbus and represents the last principle of the order: Patriotism.” Members work to promote responsible citizenship and loyalty to their country. They serve in the Honor Guard at civic and religious functions. |
