It was a day of fellowship and prayer when the Serra Clubs of the Kansas City metro area hosted the 40th Religious Sisters Appreciation Day on Aug. 13 at St. Patrick’s Parish in Kansas City, Kansas.
A joint effort by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas and the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, the day offered a chance for lay people in the Serra Club to show their gratitude to the area’s religious sisters for all they do for the community.
Attending from the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration were Prioress General Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB, General Councilor Sister Ruth Elaine Starman, OSB, Sister Wilmarie Ehrhardt, OSB and Sister Sarah Schwartzberg, OSB. They joined around 200 women religious from 25 different communities for games, a prayer service and a meal.
“Bishops from both dioceses attended as well, and it was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, to mingle with fellow sisters from a variety of different communities,” Sister Dawn Annette said. |
