The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Tucson, Arizona, hosted the annual Diocesan Religious Convocation in September.

The event included remarks from Father Greg Adolf and open conversation with then-Bishop Gerald Kicanas, DD. There was also a recognition of the presence the Tucson Benedictine Sisters have provided in the diocese for more than 80 years.

Lunch was provided by Even Stevens, a restaurant that donates a sandwich to local non-profit organizations for each sandwich sold.

The day ended with the bishop and four religious priests con-celebrating the Eucharist. At the offertory, intentions were shared for the Sisters during this time of transition of closing their Tucson monastery. After communion, Sister Jean Bartholomeaux, SC, the diocese’s vicar for religious, and Bishop Kicanas led a communal blessing over the Sisters, which included 12 religious members coming forward to hand each of them a scroll and gift.

The gift was a personal handcrafted charm with a reflection on its symbolism. The scroll was a Calendar of Prayer wherein each day of the month has a name of a religious community or person who would be holding the Benedictine Sisters in prayer every month until they are settled at the congregation’s motherhouse in Clyde, Missouri.

“Needless to say, this was a blessed day in many unexpected ways,” Tucson Superior Sister Joan Ridley, OSB commented.
