Benedictine Sister of Perpetual Adoration Sarah Schwartzberg, OSB attended the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of Monastic Interreligious Dialogue, held from October 6-8, 2017, at Saint Scholastica Monastery in Duluth, Minnesota.

The MID board consists of Catholic monastics from the Benedictine and Cistercian orders. Its purpose is to foster dialogue with the monastic traditions of other religions. Many members also dialogue with religions that do not have a monastic tradition, such as Islam. MID is part of the international Dialogue Interreligieux Monastique / Monastic Interreligious Dialogue (DIMMID) organization that works under the aegis of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue in Rome.

In addition to ordinary business matters, the agenda for the meeting included the election of directors and advisers, interreligious activities by Board members and their communities, and planning for future activities. The Board also took time to discuss possible responses to issues related to immigration and refugees, as well as to the recent surge in the number of hate crimes based on religion.
