Benedictine Sister of Perpetual Adoration Dawn Annette Mills, OSB, prioress general of the congregation, has been named prioress of the monastery in Clyde, Missouri.

With the closure of the congregation’s monastery in Tucson, Arizona, leaving the motherhouse in Clyde as the sole house, the Benedictine Sisters unanimously decided to have the prioress general maintain her current leadership position while also serving as the monastery’s prioress.

Current members of the general council will step in as the local leadership, and Assistant Prioress General Sister Ruth Elaine Starman, OSB, will serve as subprioress.

“With the congregation under one roof now, having two layers of leadership didn’t seem to be the best use of our labors, and we often duplicated tasks,” Sister Dawn Annette said. “It simply made more sense to us to free up those Sisters so they could share their talents in other ways in the community."

The change was made official during a rite of Transition during Vespers on May 11. A celebration of Sister Rita Clare Dohn, OSB, her subprioress Sister Virginia Anne Argenziano, OSB and members of their monastery council took place the following day.
