Sister Dawn Annette Mills, prioress general of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Missouri, recently joined fellow women religious leaders for the annual meeting of the Conference of Benedictine Prioresses in Yankton, South Dakota.

The event was held Jan. 28-Feb. 4 at Sacred Heart Monastery and included 44 leaders from the United States, the Bahamas, Canada and Mexico.

The conference provides members mutual assistance and encouragement to further the vision and values of Benedictine cenobitic life within the Church and contemporary society. This year’s theme centered on “Called to Serve: Pray, Listen, Lead.” At the business meeting, Sister Aileen Bankemper, OSB was elected chair of the organization for a three-year term.

“Each year the prioresses and presidents meet to further the work of the Conference of Benedictine Prioresses,” outgoing CBP Chair Sister Jennifer Mechtild Horner, OSB said. “In the midst of this work, we take the time for retreat. This year’s retreat was led by Sister Michaela Hedican, OSB of St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, Minnesota, who challenged us to practice our leadership through the lens of the beatitudes.”

Sister Dawn Annette has served as the congregation’s prioress general since her election in 2014.
