Easter Saturday took on additional meaning this year as the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration welcomed Novice Elizabeth Wavra on the next part of her formation journey.
On the evening of April 18, Novice Elizabeth formally entered the canonical year of the novitiate. It is a requirement of the Church before an individual makes her profession of vows.
“Its fundamental purpose is to enable the novice to discern the will of God for her through instruction, spiritual guidance and lived experience of our particular Benedictine lifestyle,” Formation Director Sister Pat Nyquist, OSB said. “Novice Elizabeth's studies will concentrate on the Rule of Benedict and the Benedictine vows of obedience, stability and conversatio morum (monastic way of life). This is in preparation for her deeper commitment to the community and for our way of life through the profession of vows.”
Novice Elizabeth, who is originally from Minnesota, entered the Benedictine Sisters' postulancy in December 2017. |
