Engaging in Collaboration and Learning - (01-07-2021)

< back

Several members of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Missouri, have been engaging in a variety of learning collaborations over the past few months.

Sister Sophia Becker, OSB has been taking online courses in Christology and in Patristics at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Christology focuses on the historical Jesus and how various scholars over the centuries have added to the doctrine of the Church. Patristics centers on the writings of the fathers of the Church up to the eighth century and how these men and their philosophies and beliefs colescensed into orthodox faith during the beginning of the Church.

Sister Lynn Marie D’Souza, OSB completed an online, 20-hour course, “Theology of the Body I: Head to Heart Immersion,” led by the Theology of the Body Institute in Pennsylvania in April. Due to COVID and the class becoming virtual, she was grateful to take classes while still being able to be participate in community life and duties. She hopes to take the second available course in the future.

Sister Colleen Maura McGrane, OSB virtually attended the 57th International Congress on Medieval Studies May 9-14, 2021, hosted by Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She presented a paper titled, “Carolingian Monks on the Fourth Step of Humility at the American Benedictine Academy Session.”

Prioress General Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB participated in the annual Conference of Benedictine Prioresses via Zoom May 17-20, 2021. She also virtually attended a pre-chapter meeting of the Benedictine Federation of St. Gertrude on June 16, 2021.

Sister Cathleen Marie Timberlake, OSB attended a meeting of the board of directors of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild June 21-25, 2021. Sister Cathleen Marie is a past president of the guild and was re-elected to the board of directors in 2020.
