Benedictine Sister of Perpetual Adoration Colleen Maura McGrane, OSB had several opportunities this summer to share her knowledge of and research in medieval scholarship.
She presented a paper titled “Hildemar’s Horarium: A Balanced Life?” at the American Benedictine Academy session of the 59th International Medieval Congress in May in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The Congress is hosted by the Medieval Institute at Western Michigan University and is an annual gathering of thousands of scholars interested in medieval studies. The event centered on the study of multiple aspects of the Middle Ages including history, language, literature, linguistics, art, archaeology, religion, science, medicine, music, drama, philosophy and more.
In June Sister Colleen Maura presented talks on the Rule of Benedict and on Hildemar at Monastery of Christ in the Desert in Abiquiu, New Mexico. Wrapping up her travels, she shared a presentation titled "St. Benedict and Scholastica: Models of Holiness and Humanity” to the Saint Brigid of Kildaire community in July during its retreat at Conception Abbey (Missouri).
Sister Colleen Maura is the editor of the “American Benedictine Review” journal and the author of several published works and critical translations of non-English commentary of St. Benedict’s Rule.
