Several members of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration joined their neighbors at Conception Abbey for first Vespers of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Dec. 7, which was part of the Abbey’s 150th anniversary celebration.
The Sisters also enjoyed the opportunity to meet Abbot Christian Meyer, OSB of Engelberg Abbey in Switzerland. His community has historical ties to both the Benedictine Sisters’ congregation and the Conception Abbey monks in the United States.
Pictured are (from left) Sister Sophia Becker, OSB, Sister Lucia Anne Le, OSB, Abbot Christian Meyer, OSB, Sister Ruth Elaine Starman, OSB and Sister Joan Ridley, OSB.
“Abbot Christian preached at what was a very Solemn Vespers, which included aspects we don't usually have or see,” Sister Joan remarked. |
